This elegant small carpet has a single
medallion in a geometric design surrounded by
mirror image living citrons (Buddha's hand or
finger lemon - "fo shou" in Mandarin
Chinese). It is considered a symbol of happiness
as it resembles the classic posture of Buddha's
hand with the index and little finger pointed
upwards. Four small pomegranates, a symbol of
many male offspring, surround the citrons. The
geometric corner designs each contain a flyfot
symbolizing the sun. The inner border is a garland
of shells and a single key meander. The outer
border is the flower lattice pattern. This carpet
has a fantastic and rich sheen to it. Cotton
warp and weft, asymmetrical woolen knots. All
vegetable dyed. There is one small skillfull
repair on it.
