This
man's saddle has mirror image medallions of a stylized flower
design completely surrounded by yet more lotuses. The lotus
is the symbol of purity and perfection. This shape of saddle
is known as the old style and is highly typical of Mongolian
saddles. The inner border is a garland of shells and a series
of small flowers. The very unusual outer border is a combination
of the flower lattice pattern and many small flyfots symbolizing
the sun. Cotton warp and weft, asymmetrical woolen knots.
All vegetable dyed. The rug is in a good condition.
