elegant carpet from Inner Mongolia presents a field of golden
peony flowers upon a blue flower diamond background. The peony
flower is the symbol of wealth and nobility. The inner border
is a single key meander. The outer border is a series of long-life
shou symbols combined with pink peony flowers. The blue color
of this carpet indicates that it was woven for a noble family.
Cotton warp and weft, asymmetrical woolen knots all vegetable
dyed. There are several repair on the field.
