This
is a great and complete set of Tibetan horse saddle rugs in
which the larger rug is placed upon the horse's back and the
smaller rug is for the rider to sit upon. What makes these
so special is that they are the complete set of top and bottom
carpets (usually they are split up and sold separately) and
saddles with checkerboard designs are very rare. Checkerboards
are associated with festive occasions like picnics and parties.
The checkerboard pattern symbolizes life in balance. Interesting
stylized long-life shou medallions are imposed upon the field.
The beautiful blue center piece includes matching Mount Merus
(the Holy mountain). Wool warp and weft, asymmetrical woolen
Tibetan knots in a good codition.
