This
beautiful pictorial rug features two of the "six companions
of long life" (tsering drukhor), the deer and the crane
on either side of a teh tree. Near The female deer at the
bottom of the rug are four Lingzhi mushrooms of immortality,
which can only be found by the deer. The Marchurian crane
is a favorite symbol of longevity. The bottom of this rug
has a great representation of the mountains with other symbolic
plants including the lotus and the peony. The border has a
geometric pattern called a thunder meander and the outside
is colourful lotus flowers. The blue color indicates that
this rug was made for a noble family. Cotton warp and weft
with all vegetable dyes. There are two small, skillful repairs
to the rug.
