This
sleeping carpet (khaden) has a single central medallion in
a double dorje (a Tibetan male symbol) pattern. The medallion
is surrounded by very unusual double T-shaped meanders (these
symbols rarely appear in the field of a carpet), endless knots,
lotus flowers with leaves and small flyfots in happy wheels.
The inner border is a garland of shells and a form of archiac
thunder meander. The outer border is a joined flyfot pattern
known in Tibet as "yungdrung lagdel" and it symbolizes
the sun. Cotton warp and weft, asymmetrical woollen knots.
All vegetable dyed. In a very good condition.
