This is a Ningxia mat from a temple runner. It is expressively designed with a spectrum of classic Buddhist iconography. It incorporates a central medallian of two fish arranged in a yin-yang shape, surrounded by a pearl border, which sits in a lattice field of interlocking swastikas, all surrounded by a checkerboard guard stripe and a main border of mulitcolored shells on a salmon ground. All natural colors include gold-yellow, lemon-yellow, yellow-orange, dark blue, light blue, salmon and white.All vegetable dyes.
