This
Tibetan khaden (sleeping) rug is woven in a classic design
called pema chuni, or twelve lotuses, which was very popular
at the turn of the last century. The carpet has lovely symmetry
in its design. The blue background stands out wonderfully
and illustrates the differences in dye lots. The weaving consists
of wool warp and weft, asymmetrical woolen knots and vegetable
dyes.
