This
pictorial carpet can best be described as an analogy to a
political fight. The eagle and tiger are political opponents
in Chinese mythology. Hanging near the eagle in the tree is
a seal meant to represent political power. The monkey climbing
the tree appears to be assisting the tiger. This is a very
unusual rug and was probably woven to be a presentation piece.
Cotton warp and weft, asymmetrical woolen knots and all vegetable
dyed. There are three skillful repair on it.
